Dr. Lazic is a Yale-trained leading dermatologist in New York City. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she teaches and mentors dermatology residents and medical students, earning her numerous teaching awards.
She extended her passion for education to teaching children about skin health through graphic novels books. She is also a mother of two, Mia and Luka, who inspired the main characters in this book series.
As a full-time dermatologist in New York City and mom of two young children, finding time to commit to the children’s book series she’s always dreamed of writing was difficult for Dr. Tamara Lazic Strugar.
After being diagnosed with stage IV cancer in the spring of 2022, she took a break from clinical practice to dedicate herself to undergo treatment and dedicated her spare time to writing her new SKINVENTUREZ graphic novel series, using storytelling to teach kids about skin health.
This fun and educational series is Tamara’s legacy to her profession as well as to her family.
It’s Tamara’s hope that her young readers learn valuable lifelong health lessons from her book that stay with them long after the book is closed.
When she isn’t writing engaging and informative books for children, Tamara enjoys spending time with her husband John and their children Mia and Luka, traveling the world every chance they get.
They split their time between New York City and Connecticut along with their dogs, Tito and Ginger.

Illustrator
Lea Embeli is a painter, illustrator and concept artist. She graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in the Department of Applied Painting, where she received her first Masters in Art degree.
During her studies, she was awarded multiple scholarships such as the scholarship of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, as well as the Dositej scholarship from the Foundation for Young Talents. She was also a recipient of various awards for academic excellence, and in 2021 she received a research scholarship from the Japanese government to attend the University of Art in Tokyo, where she is currently working on her second Masters degree, this time in oil painting.
Apart from painting, in 2016 she began to illustrate books for various European publishers and worked in animation and concept art.
Book designer
Melina graduated as a Master of Arts in Design at the Faculty of Design in Zagreb. She designs comic books for the highest quality local publishers while simultaneously working as part of the Mark Millar and Netflix team, thus creating more than 300 beautiful books annually. Melina lives happily in Rijeka, the rainiest city in Croatia.

Natalija’s passion for exploring the world is evident in her love for travel, books, and connecting with friends. She is also actively involved in philanthropic endeavors, supporting community foundations.
Social Media Manager
Katarina has a degree in Economics. During University, she was the president of the student organization Marketing Workshop, as well as the coordinator of the Creative Center of the University of Belgrade.
She discovered her love for digital marketing when she decided to help her friends create content on social media to promote their products and services. She became a social media manager during college, 3 years ago, and has since managed over 30 successful brands. She created her own product, VideoBox, which received American investment and became one of the most successful brands in 2022.
